My son and I had an interesting conversation this week.  We were talking about David and Goliath.  David was a young small man and Goliath was a giant. David killed Goliath to everyone’s surprise.  The account is in the Bible – 1 Samuel 17:1-50.

We have known this account for years, but what stood out to us this time was this:  Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.  1 Samuel 17:36

My son said he didn’t think there were bears in that country.  I didn’t know – so we looked it up on Wikipedia and found an article called Wildlife of Israel subheading Mammals.  It said …

By the beginning of the 20th century, the white oryx, the Syrian brown bear, the Asiatic lions, the Asiatic cheetah, and the Nile crocodile became extinct in the region.

Upon further investigation, we found that the words above in the region meant that the animals are not totally extinct.

This was an exciting discovery for us!  My son said, ‘How ironic is it that your atheist son helped you prove the bible right?’.  We both laughed.

A Day In My Life

January 2018

I read this today.  For the word of God is alive and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12

So what is a double-edged sword or a single-edged sword for that matter?

Single Edged Sword – sharp on one side

Double Edged Sword – sharp on both sides

Compare them – which is sharper?
